* Hot! End of an Era - Lincoln Town Car to be Retired - According to J. D. Power and Associates, the end of the Lincoln Town Car is at hand! As the last hurrah for the Grand Dame of traditional American full-sized luxury cars, the Lincoln Town Car will have an "abbreviated 2011 production run." The Town Car was first introduced as a high-end, well-equipped optional model of the full-sized Lincoln Continental for 1971. After 40 years, the retirement of the Lincoln Town Car marks an end to an era of traditional American full-sized luxury cars. The Town Car is a perennial favorite of luxo-car owners (even with Ford trying to kill it off earlier, as it has had no national advertisement promotion since 2005 and recently has been starved of popular options - making them no longer, and in some cases, never available (can you say "Sync Technology" on the Town Car?). For Town Car buyers, Lincoln has positioned the current Lincoln MKS model as the Town Car replacement.

* Look! MKZ Hybrid - For 2011, a new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid will be introduced sporting an amazing 41 MPG for city driving. A Lincoln with 41 miles per gallon - that's amazing! This MKZ Hybrid model (41 city / 36 hwy / 39 combined MPG) nearly doubles the fuel efficiency over a standard Lincoln MKZ. The MKZ was formerly known as the Lincoln Zephyr.

(Lincoln MKX, MKZ, MKS, MKT, LT, XYZ....does anybody else think this alphabet-soup naming convention is really stupid? Just plain confusing!)

* MyLincoln Touch™ - The new 2011 Lincoln MKX will include "MyLincoln Touch" a game-changing technology and BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert. MyLincoln Touch™ technology will forever shift how you interact with your your phone, entertainment, climate control, and navigation system in your Lincoln. It connects all by voice or by using the color-coded categories on the vibrant eight-inch center console LCD display. In addition, there are two 4.2-inch LCD screens beside the Lincoln MKX speedometer that will work with five-way steering wheel switches to give you access to fuel economy, available adaptive cruise control settings, phone, turn-by-turn directions and more. For more information about MyLincoln Touch, go to the 2011 Lincoln MKX website.

* Continental Edition - Lincoln has annouced that the Continental nameplate will be resurrected as a "Continental Edition" Lincoln Town Car for the 2010 model. (Is this the last hurrah for the Grand Dame of traditional American luxury cars? Don't know-we'll see!).

* 6versus8 - Ford put up a 2009 Lincoln MKS (with their newly engineered V6 engine) in a showdown with four European supercar competitors (Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, and BMW - all with V8 engines ) in a timed uphill climb test at Loveland Pass in Colorado located at the Rocky Mountain Continental Divide. The time trials were conducted by Motor Trend and Automotive Magazine. Lincoln MKS took on those European supercars with its new, highly advanced EcoBoost™ twin supercharged direct-injection V6 engine. Amazingly, the Lincoln MKS proved to obtain the highest speed on the test track. See the complete time trials at 6versus8.com website.

* Lincoln MotorCars - Luxury in Motion website redesigned and updated in February, 2010. The "Lincoln Motorcars - Luxury in Motion" website is one of the longest running Lincoln enthusiast webpage.
